I'm sure those who grew up hanging around in McDonald's or those who brought your kids on a weekly basis to McDonald's would have known. For the benefits for those who have not heard of them;
Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is an independent non-profit organization whose mission is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children. From early on, the organization had deep support from Ray Kroc's empire Gerald Newman, Chief Accounting Officer for McDonald's Corporation, was one of the founders of Ronald McDonald Children's Charities and was president of R.M.H.C.
RMHC has a global network of Chapters in 52 countries under three core programs, Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Room and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile
Since January 2013, RMHC Singapore has been operating a Ronald McDonald House inside National University Hospital (NUH). Their “home away from home” concept provides families with a place to rest and stay close to their hospitalized child at zero cost.
Apart from having Executive Director of RMHC Singapore, Judy Chin explaining to us on their daily operations & how the organization works, Joyce (above) who is one of the beneficiary of RMHC also shared her experience throughout her stay in RMHC
In celebration of RMHC’s 40th Anniversary, McDonald’s Singapore has planned a number of activities, and is calling for the community to join them in the following ways:
1. Make a Donation and Show Your Stripes
From 15 October to 28 October, you can make a donation to the charity by purchasing a pair of red and white striped socks via Groupon. Members of the public can choose to purchase this at $10, $20 or $50
In appreciation of each purchase, McDonald’s has included a free Strawberry Sundae treat that can be redeemed at any McDonald’s restaurant in Singapore
2. Share Your Stripes and raise awareness through #forRMHC and #RMHCSG
Help the charity spread the word by dressing in red and white stripes, donning on the socks, or creating your own red-and-white themed images. Share these images along with your well wishes for these families on Instagram with #forRMHC and #RMHCSG
3. Join RMHC on 16 November for McHappy Day 2014
RMHC’s 40th anniversary celebrations will culminate on McDonald’s annual McHappy Day, on 16 November 2014.
McHappy Day will see some 600 volunteers participating in the McHappy Day Walk and Sale across Singapore, selling the signature red and white striped socks. Volunteers comprise corporate staff and restaurant crew from McDonald’s Singapore and other friends of RMHC Singapore.
Families with young children are also welcomed to join in the fun at the #forRMHC Party at Tampines Mall from 1.00pm to 5.00pm. Members of the public can join in on the fun and participate at the various booths that offer balloon sculpting, face painting for children, games and more. Ronald will also make an appearance for photo taking with the children
Apart from the above mentioned activities, you can also donate your small change to RMHC Singapore through the RMHC DONATION BOXES at McDonald’s restaurants across Singapore.
