The brand new virtual world of Milkfrost - formally (milkfrost.multiply.com)

The reason why this blog is created is because Multiply.com is shutting down & all posts will be removed. Some posts here are back-dated from Aug 2004 - Aug 2012! I'm just doing a screen-shot & re-posting slowly cos it ain't easy to import every single photo. Therefore, only thumbnails are available for viewing, which also explains the white background & the little note at the end.

Red Hot Chilly Buddy - Mookata Thai Charcoal BBQ

I'm sure many of you have heard of Mookata. For those who have yet to heard of it, Moo kratha (หมูกระทะ), literally "pan pork", also spelled mookata, is a style of Thai steamboat dish originating in Chiang Mai. The special aspect of this steamboat style is the combination of sauces. The hot pot sits on a trough burning charcoal which grills or steams the ingredients

Fans of Mookata can now rejoice! Cos Red Hot Chilli Buddy, Mookata Thai Charcoal BBQ is the latest kid along Tanjong Katong Road. Red Hot Chilli Buddy is a new food establishment set-up by few young partners and we were honored to be invited for a tasting session.

The place is decorated with wall paintings & posters, which is quite hip & chic. Thai songs playing at the background gives you the feeling of dining in Thailand =D

Apart from set deals, they also offers ala carte buffet with more that 50 items to choose from at reasonable price

We had the in-house beverage, Thai Iced Milk Tea with pearl & nata de coco. While I find the sweetness alright for me, the girls find it too milky

Here, 2 types of chilli sauce are being offered, both blended in-house. The thicker one on left is specially blended for all types of meat while the watery one is for seafood. While we find the one for meat tasted normal, the one for seafood took us by surprise! We were expecting it to be just another spicy sauce, but it was sour & spicy. The tangy feeling leaves us longing for more! Not only it goes well with seafood, it goes well with meats too. Seriously, we hope they consider selling this.

As the pot uses charcoal, we waited for a while for the pot to be served (with few cubes of pork lard of cos!). Broth was boiled with pork bone & vegetables, is light & refreshing; turns sweet after cooking all the ingredients in it.

Personally, I feel it might be a good idea to have option of chicken soup & pot is served with butter

We didn't know what to order, so the owner helped us get started with a basic set for 2 - 3 pax

We started off with some vegetables, seafood picks, & meats like smoked duck, korean styled chicken, pork belly & black pepper beef. While the seafood are fresh, the meats very well marinated. In fact, the meats are already tasty you can even eat it on it's own. No additional sauce is needed

And so... .... the feasting starts!

Then we were introduced to this Thai styled fish paste, which can be steam & BBQ. This is by far the best fish paste we've tried. The moment it was placed on the BBQ pot, it reveals the fragrant of lemongrass.

Before continuing, wefie first! =)

Some additional stuffs after the first round. Angeline loves the chicken cheese meatballs as cheese ooze out after cooking.

And so the feasting continues... ... =D

Apart from the tasty food, the staffs here were friendly & prompt in attending to customers' needs. I'm sure we'll be back soon for more!

So if you've not tried Mookata, wait no more. Call them now for reservations & stay connected with them on their Facebook page or Instagram for promotion updates!
