Milkfrost Bakes | Air-fried Nian Gao

Le sister has been wanting to eat Fried Nian Gao but as it's towards the end of CNY period, everywhere is out of stock for nian gao

I went to a lot of places & finally found at Chinatown market but the nian gao was kind of moldy. The shop owner didn't want to sell it to me but eventually sold it to me at $5 (instead of $8 shown on the tag) after I assured him that I won't complain or make a big fuss of it since I'm just gonna fry it & not use it for offering to the deities. 

Instead of the traditional method of coating with batter  (cos I don't have a good recipe of good batter) & deep fry (lazy), I use the puff pastry instead.Cut the puff pastry, roll the nian gao in it & into the airfryer at 180* for 10 minsand there it goes!I also tried using popian skin.But boom ... overflow cos the popiah skin a bit too small 😅

I shall stick to using puff pastry or maybe frozen prata next time. Or if you have any good recipe of batter for deep frying, please share with me!

 

Year of Tiger | CNY @ Mum's Hse

Day 2 of CNY & we're heading back to mum's place for lunch. 

You may wonder how is it that I can still visit when it's restricted to 5 visitors per household. Well, exceptions can be made if all visitors are from the same household & all 6 of us are from the same household!Sis told mum not to prepare food as she had already placed an order via Foodpanda but mum still prepared some food, and thanks to that, we don't have to go without food cos ... ... the order that sis made was set to deliver only 2 days later! 😂I also ordered in bubble tea after lunch cos weather is crazily hot!Some gold plated thing mum bought for us.Mum's corridor is actually quite good for ootd pictures 😉

Oh, from here can see the crane on the construction site of my coming 姑婆屋!Small scale session this year due to the restriction of 5 pax visitor er household. Dabao some dishes from tze char & a pot of ytf soupThe usual mess of louheiand the usual mahjong session follows after dinner.Nizam also asked if I could grab a birthday cake for Irene while on my way. My reply was "Thats my plan!" .. cos we're unable to meet up on her actual birthday due to our crazy schedule.Happy Advance Birthday, Irene!The little one's turning 1 in 1 months' time!
