milkfrost's world

The brand new virtual world of Milkfrost - formally (milkfrost.multiply.com)

The reason why this blog is created is because Multiply.com is shutting down & all posts will be removed. Some posts here are back-dated from Aug 2004 - Aug 2012! I'm just doing a screen-shot & re-posting slowly cos it ain't easy to import every single photo. Therefore, only thumbnails are available for viewing, which also explains the white background & the little note at the end.

Recipe | Muah Chee

The heavily pregnant woman at home sent me a recipe of muah chee and told me to make cos she has craving of it but yet lazy to make.
The ingredients needed to make muah chee. As I'm using airfryer to make the muah chee, I put all ingredients into the baking tray and mix all together.
120g Glutinous rice flour

180 ml water

1 tsp fine sugar

2 tsp sesame oil

Mix everything together

Into the airfryer it goes at 180* for 10 mins

Separately prepare the ground peanut. I add on 1 tbsp of sugar into the peanut powder to make the peanut powder sweeter. **do note that sugar is optional.

~~ Ding ~~ ready in 10 mins

Remove from baking tray and put it into the peanut powder

Cut into smaller pieces and mix well

Tada ~~ pipping hot muah chee, ready for everyone at home!

For those who loves eating muah chee can try making it cos preparation takes less than 5 mins and you can enjoy a big plate of muah chee!

Have fun!

Oreo No-Bake Dessert

Who loves Oreo? If you do, I'm sure you'll love this Oreo No-bake dessert from Jell-O.

I bought this Oreo No-bake dessert few weeks ago from NTUC & didn't get down to getting it done cos I don't have a mixer. When I finally bought a hand-mixer, I don't have the ingredients although the ingredients needed are so simple. Last Sunday while out for breakfast, I finally remember to buy the ingredients =D

Very simple. All you need is 1-1/3 cup of cold milk & 4 tsbp of melted butter/ margarine

Finally putting my hand-mixer in use

Step 1: Add margarine to Mix #1 (Oreo bits), thoroughly mix & moisten the Oreo bits

Step 2: Lay the Oreo bits into dishpan.

The boys wanted to help, so I got them to work on step 1 & step 2

Step 3: Add cold milk into Mix#2, mix on low speed for 30 secs

Step 4: Pour the mixture into the dishpan

Step 5: Pour in more Oreo bits from Mix#3 & mix well

The boys did both step 4 & step 5 also.

Done with preparation. Freeze for 1 hour before serving

Tada ~~~ cold Oreo No-bake dessert to beat the heat!

Saw on their website that they have quite a few no-bake cheesecakes. So far I only see this in NTUC, so I hope I can find some soon at boys at home loves cheesecake.

Please drop me a line if you come across any other supermarkets selling No-bake desserts from Jell-O

Recipe: Bacon Cup

Just the other day, I saw a post on Facebook on Bacon Cup but I didn't really take note of it. Few days later, I decide to Google recipe for it but couldn't figure it what is the name of it, I just use Bacon Recipe for Breakfast & foung this Creative Meals Made in a Muffin Tin & I narrow it down to Bacon & Eggs Cup

Dangz~~ I do not have bread at home & I find it a little plain, so I modify the recipe a little. Here's what I use

12 Strips of Streaky Bacon
4 Eggs
4 White Button Mushroom (Chopped)
1 Tbsp Bacon Bits (Optional)
A dash of Oregano & Pepper (Optional)

Method:

1. Grease the muffin tray with butter

2. Beat Eggs & mix White Button Mushroom together. I add in Bacon Bits to make it looks a little more colorful. A dash of pepper to taste

3. Fill the muffin tray with 2 slices of Bacon to form the cup

4. Four in the pre-mix egg & mushroom mix

5. Bake at 200C for 25 mins

Ding ~~ Done! Erm... ... a little too much of the egg mix, so it flows out of the bacon cup, but still yummy

The next day, I decided to make another version of the Bacon Cup since I bought bread!

Ingredients I used this time:
1.5 Slices of bread
6 Strips of Streaky Bacon
12 Quail Eggs
2 White Button Mushroom (Chopped)

Method:

1. Cut the bread & placed it at bottom of muffin tray (I do not have a proper round cutter, so I use scissors to cut the bread into quarter)

2. Toast the bread for 5 mins at 200C

3. Fill the muffin tray with 1 slice of bacon to form a cup when the bread is toasted. Since I'm using Quail Eggs, I reckon it will not be able to fill the bacon cup, so I add in some mushrooms

4. Crack the 2 Quail Eggs into the Bacon Cup. It's quite difficult cracking the Quail Eggs, so I switch to normal Eggs.

5. Bake at 200C at 25 mins

Ding ~~ Ready to be served! Supposed to bring these to picnic but half was gone before we even head out! =D

My nephews prefer this version cos the egg yoke is visible =D

Which do you prefer?

450g Flour
250g Butter
1 Tsp Vanilla Essence
75g Icing Sugar
1 Egg
Pineapple Paste
Salted Egg Yoke (optional)

Method:
1. Mix flour & icing sugar together
2. Add butter, mix till resemble bread crumb
3. Add egg, vanilla essence, knead to a dough that will not stick to hand
4. Roll out & cut into circle
5. Wrap w/pineapple filling & glaze w/egg yolk
6. Bake at 180* for 20 mins

hmm... Somehow I stupidly used only 220g butter instead of 250g. In the end, the dough turns a little hard halfway thru. Thus, the dough breaks! The crust turns out a little like biscuit, but still taste quite good

I added Salted Egg Yoke cos I've been caving for the Taiwanese Pineapple Tarts. Sis used to by them from Taiwan when she is still flying with China Airlines.

Recipe: Egg Roll aka Love Letter

Chinese New Year is just 3 weeks away, so it's time to start making some CNY goodies. I found this recipe online 2 years ago & I attempted to make & it tasted quite good.

Didn't have time to make last year, so I decided to make this year. Had a trail run last week. A little hiccup in the start but end result not bad.

Ingredients:
3 Eggs
190gm Sugar
500ml Coconut Milk
100gm Plain Flour
80gm Rice Flour
20gm Starch (I sue Tapioca Starch)

Method:
1. Beat eggs & sugar together till sugar dissolves
2. Add coconut milk, mix well
3. Add plain flour, rice flour, starch, mix till no lumps

Heat & lightly brush the electric grill with oil, and I'm ready for baking!

I don't have the proper equipment for rolling the egg rolls (love letters), plus it's way too hot, so I only fold it into fan-shape.

Also, I feel it looks quite pale when the light on the toaster goes off, so I toast it a little longer, in the end it looks quite dark but still good for own consumption

Daryl insisted on helping, so I let him keep it into the container

I found heavy-duty glove & inspired by the TVB Drama, I added some pork floss into some of them. Taste pretty good! However, instead of folding it shaped like envelope, I also fold it into fan-shape cos I'm a little slow & it started to get hard when it is slightly cooled & it also started breaking.. hahaha

Shall do one more round sometime next week. Hopefully it'll look better =)
