milkfrost's world

The brand new virtual world of Milkfrost - formally (milkfrost.multiply.com)

The reason why this blog is created is because Multiply.com is shutting down & all posts will be removed. Some posts here are back-dated from Aug 2004 - Aug 2012! I'm just doing a screen-shot & re-posting slowly cos it ain't easy to import every single photo. Therefore, only thumbnails are available for viewing, which also explains the white background & the little note at the end.

Street 50, Bay Hotel

Bay Hotel Singapore’s STREET 50 Restaurant & Bar, its newly-opened global flavours restaurant, brings you the best from around the world, offering diverse flavours from Italian, French and American to Vietnamese, Indonesian and Singaporean with interesting twists.

Wendy has a media invite from Dennis from Craft Communications for food tasting and she brought me along

We were served a basket of bread w/oil & vinegar upon seated

Caprese ($12) I ain't a fan of Cheese, so I only had a slice of ham & tomatoe

Smoked Duck and Citrus Fruits ($11) - Duck with orange & grapefruit in orange dressing w/walnut. It was rather refreshing but will be better if they drizzle a little bit more dressing

Escargot ($14/$22) - These were baked in hazelnut butter & flambed with brandy, which is very different from what I had everywhere else. If you like a different serving method of Escargot, it's definitely worth giving it a try. I personally prefers the tradition butter & garlic style

Surprisingly, they also have Hotpot in their menu! 3 different sets to choose from ($32 for 2 pax; $48 for 2 pax & $108 for 4 pax), and each set comes with Yong Tau Foo Platter, vegetables, seafood, meat & noodle/rice. There's only 2 soup base to choose from - Imperial Chicken (Chicken Soup)/ Siamese Luck (Tom Yum) & up to 8 different dips to choose from! While the Imperial Chicken is slightly bland, Siamese Luck was was full of flavors. I personally prefers Siamese Luck

Duck Pot Pie ($22) - Duck braised in red wine sauce w/carrots & spice. The crust on it's own is pretty good too.

Orient Barbecue Pizza ($18) - Smoked duck, enoki mushrooms, spring onion with hoisin sauce. Looking at the amount of cheese on the pizza, I wasn't quite sure if I wanna try this cos I don't take cheese as I find them smelly. However, when I took a bite of the pizza, I was quite relieve cos the hoisin sauce was strong enough to musk the smell of the cheese.

Roulade of Porkloin with wild Rice ($20) - Porkloin roll w/wild rice on aligot potatoes, drizzle w/prune sauce. Quite an interesting dish I would say.

Salmon Cutlet ($22) - Salmon was grilled to perfection w/crispy skin!

Lamb Rendang ($24) - Lamb Shank braised w/rendang paste, served with fragrant jasmine rice. I would say this is a must-try dish as the lamb was very tender

Apple Strudel ($8) - Served with Coconut Ice Cream. I ain't a fan of Apple Strudel cos I find the apple a tad sweet

Durian Pengat ($8) - cocooned in crepe, served with exotic fruits & brown sugar. I'm a sucker for durian pengat, so this is definitely something I would order again!

Once again, Thanks Dennis from Craft Communications for inviting Wendy!
