The brand new virtual world of Milkfrost - formally (milkfrost.multiply.com)

The reason why this blog is created is because Multiply.com is shutting down & all posts will be removed. Some posts here are back-dated from Aug 2004 - Aug 2012! I'm just doing a screen-shot & re-posting slowly cos it ain't easy to import every single photo. Therefore, only thumbnails are available for viewing, which also explains the white background & the little note at the end.

Bliss House @ The Central

Bliss House - A newly opened Themed Restaurant at The Central.

My friends and I were there on Sunday noon for birthday celebrations. The birthday girl choose this restaurant as it looks quite nice & it's similar concept to Full House Themed Restaurant. However, we were greatly disappointed by the service rendered.

Service was extremely slow when the restaurant is only about 10% occupied; to be exact, apart from us which is in a group of 11 adults & 5 kids, there's only a table of 4 & another table of 2 in the entire restaurant.

It took them close to 25mins to serve us ice water. I personally feel that if it takes more than 10 mins to serve a round of ice water, it automatically fails your service standard. It fails even more terribly when the restaurant is only 10% occupied!

Anyway, let's move in & take a look at the restaurant.

Once you stepped in, you'll be greeted by a pumpkin carriage that is clustered with too many 'leaves' which you might not even figure out that there's actually a carriage on display. Taking picture in the carriage seriously looks like you're lost in jungle

Dining area looks quite presentable thou

Into the 'house', there's a private room with 12 seating capacity

The pretty 'living room'

Somehow, we don't quite understand why is there a bridal corner

Theresa & myself snap a few pictures before the rest arrives

When we were seated & presented the menu, we were quite shock! The menus are printed black & white on A4 plain paper, and the menus were all crumpled & with food stains. One of the menu is even torn already! The fonts on the menu is pretty nice but too difficult to read also.

I ordered Passion Fruit w/ginger salt Martini (Alcoholic $16) while Hazel ordered one w/o alcohol. It took them close to 30 mins to get the drinks served, & the server even mixed up the alcohol & non-alcohol drink!

Finally soup & appetizer were served after quite a long wait. Wendy ordered the Wild Mushroom Soup ($8). Soup was rather bland & She mentioned that the bread that comes with it was pretty hard

Baked Mushrooms ($10) - 6 tiny button mushrooms

Baked Portobello Mushroom ($16) - price you see is only for 1pc

Calamari ($14) - This is only portion for 2 pax to share!

Scallop w/prawn & caviar ($24) - This is probably the only appetizer I feel it's worth the price tag.

Closer look; scallops are fat & juicy, prawn are fresh

We ordered 2 sets of Carbonara ($22) for the 3 kids to share & when Fiona asked if they can serve this first as the kids are hungry, the server told us that if we wanted this to be served first, the rest of the mains will have to wait quite long!

**UPDATED (06 Mar 13)
I just got to know that the server told Fiona the Carbonara has to wait cos we ordered a lot of items. Excuse me, are you trying to tell me we can't request for selected dish to be served first? Or are you trying to tell us that there's only 1 chef in the kitchen cooking? The restaurant is only 10% full & yet the server is telling us that there's a lot of items, so the dishes have to wait. So what if the restaurant is 100% full? Does that mean we have to wait an hour for the food to be served?

While we're told that we have to quite long for the main dish to be served, we decided to have the birthday cake first cos the wait is pretty long! I bought Hazelnut Crunch from Swissbake (300g @ $18.90). Quite nice.

The birthday girls, Cheryl & Theresa

Hazel & Fiona ordered Kurobuta Pork ($32). While Hazel says it's nice, Fiona says it doesn't really taste & feels like Kurobuta Pork

Sam had Red Snapper ($32) & comments that it's quite nice but the fish is quite small

I had Boneless Short Ribs ($34) which I feel it's more like beef stew. Beef was quite tender thou.

Janice had Capellini Prawns ($24) & she says it's quite nice

Theresa, Wendy & Cheryl ordered Seafood Spaghetti ($26). While Wendy & Cheryl says it's quite nice, I feel that the mussel has a little fishy smell when Theresa offered me a piece.

After dinner, we settle on a group picture before we go our own ways. I hope both the birthday girls enjoyed the celebration.

Oh ya... ...we were taken aback when the bill was presented! OH MY GOSH ... Total damage of $628.50, which is like $57/pax! It was definitely over-priced & with the unsatisfactory service, I suggest you avoid this restaurant if you don't want to burn a hole in your pocket!
