milkfrost's world

The brand new virtual world of Milkfrost - formally (milkfrost.multiply.com)

The reason why this blog is created is because Multiply.com is shutting down & all posts will be removed. Some posts here are back-dated from Aug 2004 - Aug 2012! I'm just doing a screen-shot & re-posting slowly cos it ain't easy to import every single photo. Therefore, only thumbnails are available for viewing, which also explains the white background & the little note at the end.

1-Day Desaru Trip (ii) - Ostrich Farm

Continuing from my 1-Day Desaru Trip - After breakfast, we were driven to Ostrich Farm. Entrance fee for this visit is covered in the tour package.

At the shop front, there is a 1-Day Old Ostrich on display

Once you enter the farm, there's a Chinese-speaking uncle explaining the process of farming Ostrich, the use & the price of a full-grown Ostrich. He also demonstrate on how to open up an Ostrich Egg. He also explained the differences of Ostrich from different countries

1 Ostrich egg is equivalent to 24 Chicken Eggs & it's sold at RM$60/egg

Here, they also have 1 Cassowary!

These smiley Ostriches are 2-3 months old

All the Ostriches cost between RM$6-RM$9k, but this is a super pricey Ostrich. It cost abt RM$20k! Why? Cause this Ostrich is short-sighted!

They also have different types of Chickens here. They also have a Monkey here, which I didn't manage to snap a picture of it

The super friendly Ostrich who loves taking pictures with the visitors!

Apart from taking pictures with the Ostriches, you can also try to stand &  balance on the Ostrich Eggs. Each egg can stand a weight of about 130kg!

After the tour, you can also relax at the Surf & Turf Restaurant to enjoy a cup of cold beverage, and types of dishes made from Ostrich Meat/ Egg. Wendy ordered 5 sticks of Ostrich Meat Satay for us to try. The meat was tender & it actually taste a bit like beef. Sam ate only half a stick cos part of the meat wasn't really cooked.

Before we left, we saw this slightly injured & sleepy cat lazying at one corner =)

In case you have yet to read my previous post on my 1-Day Desaru trip, it's hereComing up next, Lobster Lunch (provided in the tour package)

Supposed to assemble at 6am but i woke up only at 6am! Ran after my on-called cab which is being hijacked by a couple, fell & sprained my left foo. Thankfully, the coach driver waited for me & we depart at abt 6.25am!

Being an "official camera-woman" in the group, I actually forgot to put back my SD card into my camera after removing it to upload some photos on Saturday night! Sam loan me a card but it's only 16MB, which can only take a few pix.. my camera internal storage oso can take only abt 40pix.. so the rest of the pix are taken with my lousy iPhone 3Gs.. Didn't take much pix cos even my spare batt for iPhone oso can't tahan for too long & during dinner, my iPhone keeps dying on me! oh ya, forgot to take group pix~

*this has taught me a lesson - not only a spare batt is needed, an extra SD card is needed too!

Quite a fruitful trip afterall!

Check out the size! It's equivalent to 20 chicken eggs
