milkfrost's world

The brand new virtual world of Milkfrost - formally (milkfrost.multiply.com)

The reason why this blog is created is because Multiply.com is shutting down & all posts will be removed. Some posts here are back-dated from Aug 2004 - Aug 2012! I'm just doing a screen-shot & re-posting slowly cos it ain't easy to import every single photo. Therefore, only thumbnails are available for viewing, which also explains the white background & the little note at the end.

Milkfrost Cooks | Top Shell

Le sister wants to eat Top Shell & boom.. the task naturally falls on me!
Went searching for Top Shell & when I asked if there's lime at home, she told me yes. In the end, what's left in the fridge is less than half the lime & I had to substitute it was lemonTada~~
Ok, don't ask me for recipe cos taste is very subjective when it comes to such appetizer. But if you really wanna know, it's all in the picture above.

Pickled Lettuce Appetizer

Early thins month, I went Lei Garden with The Girls for Sam's Birthday Celebration & the appetizer served caught my attention!

Thanks to Fiona, I was told that it's pickled lettuce (菜心) & XO sauce, so I came home & mix my own.

To make this, I bought Narcissus Brand Pickled Lettuce (菜心) & Lee Kum Kee Extra Spicy XO Sauce, and I began mixing it.

2 cans of Pickles Lettuce, drain the excess water in the can

Diced into cubes or smaller pieces

6 spoonful of XO Sauce

Mix evenly; store in airtight container & keep chilled.

Tested; although it doesn't taste exactly the same as what I had at Lei Garden, it taste quite good. It can be eaten on it's own, add into instant noodle or fried rice.

Milkfrost's Devilish Eggs & Cold Pasta

It's Multiply's Yearly Christmas Gathering again! As usual, we'll do it with potluck so we get lots of yummy food =)

I'm an egg lover, so naturally I'll do something with eggs. I found this Devilish Eggs Recipe online & decided to try it out.

Ingredients needed:
15 Eggs
2 Tablespoon Mayonnaise
1 Teaspoon Honey Mustard (Original recipe is actually Dijon Mustard, but I replace it for kids)
A dash of salt & pepper

Method:
Boil the eggs; deshell & half it length-wise
Remove the egg yolk; mix with Mayonnaise & Honey Mustard; add in a dash of salt & pepper to taste
Scoop the mixture of egg yolk; put it back to the egg white

Serve chilled

I put it on the cupcake papers so that it will not be messy.
You may want to slice off a little bit of the egg white at the bottom so that it can sit nicely on the tray

I added 2 cute slices of ham to some eggs for variety

I also added some Bacon Bits to some other eggs

tada~~ done!

I also made Cold Pasta since I have quite a bit of pasta at home

Ingredients:
250gm Pasta of your choice
50gm Mix vegetables
20 Slice Black Olives
10 Shrimps
4 slices Ham
150ml Italian Dressing
A dashful of Rosemary Leaves

Method:
Boil the pasta as per instructions on packaging
Mix all other ingredients together & chill

*oops! I didn't remove the black thingy off the shrimp

I will bring along Cheese, Crutons & Bacon Bits so that the girls can add on to the Cold Pasta!

I have yet to try both the Devilish Eggs & Cold Pasta. Hope it turn out well.

One of My Favorite Appetizer!

It's been long time since I last made this appetizer. Yes! For those who knows me well, I'm sure you know what appetizer I'm referring to! For those who don't me well enough, this is one of my favorite appetizer!

Yes, it's Top Shell~~

There are a few brands available in the market, and this is my favorite brand & I'm preparing this for my cousin, Cherilyn's birthday gathering =)

Here's how the Top Shell looks like in case you have not seen them before.

Main ingredient: 2 cans of Top Shell, sliced into smaller pieces.
For me, I prefer to add some of the brine into it as well.

10 small shallots, sliced or chopped according to your preference

8 Big Limes, squeezed into juice, remove the seeds
*16 Small limes would be better, but there isn't any available in NTUC when I went at 11pm

Lastly, a few chili padi. Mix all ingredients together & serve chill. Best if chill overnight

~~Saw the pile of chili padi in there? My cousin loves super spicy Top Shell, so I throw in a lot of them! Sis tried, says it's spicy. Sis is one weird girl who eats a packet of maggie me with 10 chili padi & won't feel anything. So, when she says it's spicy, it's really spicy!

Anyone wanna make a guess how many chili padi I added? Scroll down for answer!
